Jewish Renewal is a sense of seeing beyond the form into the deep structure of things… you’re at the place where you ask, What did they do in the past? Why did they do it? What did they intend? How can we do the same in our day, in the setting we have, and according to the needs of our personalities in this environment?

Jewish Renewal is a worldwide egalitarian movement dedicated to nurturing the spiritual life of Jews as well as all spiritual seekers. It seeks to create sacred space that enables relevant and meaningful connections with the Creator as a path of healing our hearts and finding balance and wholeness.

It is known for its joyful celebrations that include music and dance, interactive prayer, storytelling, guided meditation and the study of kabbalah, mysticism and Chassidus.

Founder of Jewish Renewal

Reb Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, Founder of Jewish Renewal Creativity and individuality are encouraged as well as an openness to the incorporation of other forms of spiritual practice that can enhance the spiritual experience. Jewish Renewal is a safe haven for those who are new to Jewish practice as well as those who have felt disenfranchised and disconnected from other forms of Judaism.
